Watching the game at Looneys in Canton Square. Decent crowd. Not quite packed…yet.

Open Spot from Google attempts to ease parking issues
I’m using a new Android application called Open Spot that helps you find and share open parking spots you see on the street. The more people that use it, the better it gets, so tell all your friends.
You can check it out here: http://openspot.googlelabs.com.
You can download it at: http://openspot.googlelabs.com/download.html.
WJZ Channel 13 news, all news, all illegally parked

Thanks channel 13 news for parking your van in one of the worst spots in the trolley lanes, illegally. You created a beautiful blind corner which could have caused a serious bike accident that close to Pratt st.
On the bright side, if a biker got creamed because of your blatant disregard for the law, you’d be the first on the scene to report on it.
Samurai Jack Jr.

It must be something with the basil, my backyard, or me, that brings the praying mantis every year. Welcome back samurai jack jr.
RIP Meridian 54
Meridian 54 is dead. They posted new signs tonight that it’s under management. It’s gone the same route as Red Fish, belly up. It’s probably just as well, they service was horrible and the food was mediocre. They only have location going for them. If they want to benefit from their location they’ll need to make sure they offer something unique instead of $15 kobe beef sliders that are were the size of silver dollars. Kobe beef or not, that’s not something you offer in a location like that. I’ve written about how bad their service has been.

Where are all the rentals?
I’ve been watching craigslist.com and the various rental agency sites for about a month now and I’m not seeing much. When we started looking to rent in the city, particularly Canton and Fells Point, two years ago there was a massive amount of properties available. Craigslist.com was full available rentals, there was houses left and right. Places went fast but at least there were places.
Over the past month craigslist.com has had a massive amount of places available north of Baltimore Ave. This area seems to be the main focus of a lot of rehabs and clean ups. I wouldn’t mind living north of the park but unfortunately our friends live south of the park. I’ve yet to have any desire to make the trek through Patterson Park after midnight any time just to get home.
I would think that with all the properties that were being bought and rehabbed that people would be renting the properties they can’t sell. Maybe the renting season is a bit slow and I’m looking a bit early. Lets hope so.
The Circus is in town!
Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey have the first show tonight at 1st Mariner Arena.

It also looks as thought Lexington Market is setting up for the Elephant Parade. According to the City Paper they march elephants and horses up to the parking lot of Lexington market.
I’ve been hearing from a lot of people where I work that elephant poop (such a fun word!) is a very good fertilizer. It’s been suggested that I head up to the market with the plethora of empty planters peanut jars that I have to get as much as I can to use for my tomatoes!
